Or you can email it to our editor, subject: "submission". Send one submission only in the body of the email. If you absolutely need to send it as an attachment, please use a simple plain text format (with line breaks).

We can also accept files in the following formats if you don't mind a longer wait: MS Word, WordPerfect (5.1 through 8.0), RTF, HTML, SGML/XML. All of these will take longer for us to look at and process. Zipping files is OK, even using Mac compression programs. Submissions may include graphics (which can be in just about any format).

Please be sure to include the following information with each submission:

  • Author's name (can be a pen-name)
  • Valid email address (We will need to give you instructions for your first submission, and from time to time when services need to be changed). This will only be listed on the website if you request it.
  • Short bio (optional)
  • A copyright notice (if none is included, we will use a default one that protects you).
  • Any special instructions or explanations

We will acknowledge receipt of your material quickly (usually within the business day, though it may be longer). Usually submissions that are accepted will be posted within a couple business days.

Copyright

Worksonline cannot publish in violation of copyright law. If you are submitting something that has previously been published, you must own copyright and redistribution rights to the work, and grant us the right to publish it. Publishing on our site does not give us copyright to your work--you retain that. However, the act of publishing does allow us to reproduce and display your work on our web site at our discretion. You are responsible for ensuring that material you submit can be legitimately published. (In the US, works are copyrighted for 75 years from the date of publication; in the UK, for 50 years from the death of the author).

Offensive material

Worksonline wishes to be family-friendly. We will review all submissions for content and appropriateness. We reserve the right to be selective about what appears on our site and in association with our name. Typically, material that would make a movie R-rated will be deemed inconsistent with our target audience. If you have questions about our editorial policies, please feel free to contact our editor.

Editing and revisions

Generally speaking, we are not interested in proofreading your work. However, we may make minor corrections to spelling and grammar if we think the corrections are important--unless you specifically ask us not to.

Legalese

We are providing a free service: we do not charge to post your works on WorksOnline, neither do we pay for submissions. By submitting your material, you agree that we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the effect that the worksonline website will always be available, your work will be displayed error-free, particular formatting/layout will be used, or that your work will remain posted. If you are unhappy with our site or our service, you may request that we remove your work from our site. We will do so in a timely manner.
